The Jacob theory
On the latest ABC podcast, there was an interesting question brought up. Based on Walt's comic book, is Jacob an alien or some type of non-human intelligence being held? Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof answer, "Jacob is not an alien". But they dodge the rest of the question because it would reveal too much. Here is my theory on the subject. In the comic book entitled Green Lantern/Flash: Faster Friends #1 that Hurley brought onto the plane later found by Walt. Was about Green Lantern and Flash attacked and defeated a crashed alien known as "Alien X", without checking to see if it was hostile. Realizing their mistake, they hid the ship where it could not be found. Alien X, had development cancer as a result of testing at a government lab. Is Jacob some kind of non-human being that is being held captive for testing? Or being held captive for the safety of the island and Other’s? That would tale us why the Others have that strange powder around Jacob's house, to contain him. And maybe that's why the Others have the Security System aka "Smokey".
